Movie Gallery Customers and Associates Donate More Than $866,000 to The Helen Keller Foundation for Research and Education
Movie Gallery US, LLC (Nasdaq: MOVI), the nation's second-largest video retailer, has raised $866,436 to support The Helen Keller Foundation for Research and Education. Movie Gallery U.S. stores contributed $716,014 (US $) and the Canadian stores contributed $150,422 (CDN $). Joe Malugen, Chairman and CEO of Movie Gallery, presented the funds to the foundation on May 22 in Birmingham, Alabama.
Movie Gallery's annual "Be a Star" program, the company's largest charitable fund drive, allows customers and associates to pledge their support at all 2,700 Movie Gallery locations across North America.
"I'm very proud of our customers' and associates' strong support of the Helen Keller Foundation. Movie Gallery is committed to the Foundation's efforts to end blindness through medical research, and we look forward to building on the success of our annual "Be a Star" fundraising effort," said Malugen.
